Ashaki Larkins is an accomplished human services professional with 20 years of experience in the public and private sectors, including community development, educational reform issues, housing advocacy, leadership development and management programs, data infrastructure, coaching, and succession planning. Throughout her career, Ashaki has led multiple efforts to develop and promote an integrated and collaborative approach to capacity building for both nonprofits and government agencies.
As a partner in Strategic Impact Group, Ashaki brings her knowledge of public policy, housing, collective impact, data analytics, and coaching as resources to support the client portfolio. She is keenly skilled in working with executive leadership to conceptualize strategic planning and prioritize data to influence greater impact. She has created countless systems to help nonprofits data mine and address their data gaps.
As Policy in Advisor in Mayor Ras J. Baraka’s Office of Comprehensive Community Education, Ashaki is responsible for identifying and implementing policy priorities for the office, which include a city-wide Children’s Cabinet. Ashaki leads the work of the Cabinet to improve social change and build citywide systems of opportunity for children.
Ashaki’ s background in education spans throughout various accredited institutions. She holds a dual degree in Communication Arts and Journalism from Caldwell University, as well as an English accreditation. She is certified through the New Jersey Department of Education as an Elementary School teacher, and through Neighbor Works America as a homeownership counselor, default prevention counselor, credit counselor, financial capabilities coach, and asset management professional. She is a Fellow of Education Pioneers and a member of Rutgers University’s Institute for Ethical Leadership.
Ashaki is a member of several service and advocacy-based organizations including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the National Fair Housing Alliance, and the National League of Cities.
